It’s been a long two months for all of us. How did the quarantine go for you? Were you able to keep to your schedule rigorously like the Unsullied? Maybe you just chilled out and binged Netflix series, because we all know there’s never ever going to be enough time to catch up to everything in our watch list.
Whatever you did during this quarantine, it’s important that we are able to get back to setting a routine that will help us get in the groove for the day. Here are four tips that can help end your day on a good note and improve the quality of your sleep:
1. Separate work from personal time.
To those who could work or study from home, it has been a privilege to be able to do so during the quarantine. It was a semblance of normalcy, but at the same time it also affected our transition from work hours to personal time. It’s time to get it on the right track again, and make sure to work within a specific working time. When you are able to mentally log out of work, you can set your brain to “me time” and focus on resting for the day.
2. Plan your next day.
Not everyone is the Taylor Swift of planning, but this doesn’t mean you can’t go the route of simple listing. Know what you’ll do the next day by simply writing the tasks you need to do. This will help you know what to expect and go to sleep at ease that you won’t wake up in a panic not knowing what you’ll be doing when you wake up.
3. Make time for you.
Now that you’re done with work and preparing for tomorrow, it’s time to get in some of that “me time” you reserved for the day. Get in a few chapters of the book you’re reading, play a few minutes of your video game, you can even have a dance session with yourself. The key is to do something YOU want to do that will help you relax and unwind after a long day at work.
4. Drink a glass of water before you sleep.
Your body goes into a state of restoration while you sleep. This allows your body to repair, detoxify, and replenish your immune system. Drinking a glass of water before you sleep will help this process and keep you hydrated throughout the night, leaving you refreshed the next morning.
The important thing is to make sure you’re well and full rested, ready to tackle the next day and all that it brings.
