It’s been a rollercoaster of events this year. From the global pandemic, to most recently the strongest and most destructive typhoons to fall on land with a span of a few weeks. We’ve had four storms devastate our fellow Filipinos, leaving many wondering what they’ll do in the last weeks of 2020.
Typhoon Quinta (October 25), Rolly (November 1), Siony (November 7), and Ulysses (November 11) wreaked havoc to regions in Luzon and Visayas, leaving many cities flooded, farms destroyed, and families left homeless or missing. The effects of the calamity has left a heavy dent to the victims who are still waiting for rescue and relief from different sectors.
How can we give a helping hand to our fellow Filipinos? There are a lot of donation drives and operations you can donate to, where you can make sure that your help goes to those who need the support. Here are some of the relief efforts from organizations around the country where you can give both monetary and in-kind donations for the benefit of those directly affected by the typhoon:
Kaya Natin! Movement
In partnership with the Office of the Vice President, the Kaya Natin! Movement launched the Bangon Luzon donation drive for the victims of Typhoon Rolly and Ulysses. You can donate to their cause through different channels, and keep track of their updates on their facebook page.
The UN-backed organization is holding ongoing relief operations to help provide victims and vulnerable communities with a variety of basic necessities such as hygiene kits, health and nutrition supplies, teaching and learning kits.
Red Cross Philippines
Appealing for help, Red Cross Philippines is asking for monetary donations to support relief effort for victims of Typhoon Ulysses. Donations to them help not just those in evacuation centers, it would also go into helping rebuild homes for those who need it.
Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS)
Our lovable fur friends are also great victims to the typhoon. PAWS is accepting donations in money and in-kind, such as pet food, for the relief of both pet owners and their cattos and doggos who are affected by the typhoons.
UP Diliman University Student Council

So if you still want to donate along with the 12.12 sale from Lazada, you know where to go.
It is now more than ever when we need to help each other, and make sure our help goes to those who are truly in need. After all, what better time to bring out the best in each other than the season when the values of love, family, and community shines the brightest.
